I haven't started this book yet, but I recently bought it and I'm curious, without using any spoilers, why is this book rated so lowly?

He padded out the length by dragging out a few of his more lazy shock cliches which add very little to the story. It almost feels like a book written on a bet, where he tried to prove he could take a decent little idea and turn it into a bestseller by throwing in a few paint-by-numbers King tricks. (less)
