I didn't care for Shiver that much. But this sounds Interesting. If I didn't care for Shiver is there any chance this book is better? I'm looking for a book with strong characters. Thanks. ;3

Romina I honestly disliked Shiver and couldn't get past the first book, but The Raven Cycle is totally worth reading. A hundred times better.
Rumesa I have recently reread the book The Raven Boys and I am absolutely in love with these books. The characters, the writing style (once you adjust to it), the plot and setting, everything is just so different from what I've been reading, and so rare. It's YA, but at the same time, it gives off a very mature and adult vibe, especially in the way the characters think and interact. The details were a little blury and I don't remember being so into the book the first time I read it, but once I came around, I just grew to love almost everything about this well constructed story. Its an amazing and unique read. I would definitely recommend it,.
Jody Schaefer I managed to read Shiver in a reasonable time period. Linger and Forever didn't click at all for me and I didn't end up finishing the trilogy. I just finished The Raven Boys last night and it's by far my favorite book by Maggie Stiefvater yet. Give it a try. :-)
Maria My exact sentiments. I couldn't stand Shiver.
Aish I didn't finish shiver, despite it being my sister's favorite book. I figure shiver is fine for a younger audience (she's 14) but this is a much more mature book, with pretty complex themes and very well developed characters, while shiver I found a little shallow.
Jean This series is much more mature and better realized than Shiver. It is about teens, but adults are also prominently involved. The characters are better developed and plots are more complex. Ms Stiefvater is growing as an author. Also highly recommended is The Scorpio Races, which is a stand alone book, if you don't want to get involved in a series.
Rebecca It's been a long while since I read Shiver (and I did really love that series when I did read it), but hands down I love The Raven Cycle more. One of my favorite things about the books is the characters, so if that's what you're looking for, I would recommend it!
Liiva This book is based on the characters. It's mostly about their backgrounds and nature and how they cope with life and it is totally awesome
Ada It's better than Shiver (or the whole trilogy, for that matter) but it's a bit slow-going and I found it slightly boring. I would recommend it, but not as highly as I would recommend The Scorpio Races. If I were you, I would just read it and give it a try. It's not that bad.
Basil The Raven Cycle is one of my all time favorite book series. It's really worth it. It has all you might want in a book from high quality characters to wack magic.
Ayesha I really didn't like Shiver and compare to that book, this one is so much better. It does have strong characters that you find out and love so much as you get deeper into the series. I strongly recommend you read it because for me, this book was so different to the paranormal books I usually read.
Erin I didn't care for Shiver too much either. This book has everything that Shiver lacked in almost every aspect, so I recommend giving it a try. I really enjoyed this.
Jessica I didn't care much for Shiver, but enjoyed The Raven Boys significantly more.
Kristi I feel the same way about Shiver. To be honest, I couldn't finish it. Maybe one day I'll go back to it, but it just wasn't doing anything for me.
Bethany I thought the Raven Cycle was much better written than the Wolves of Mercy Falls trilogy. While I enjoyed parts of Wolves, honestly -- if I weren't a fast reader, I probably wouldn't have finished them. The Raven Cycle has far better character development, and Stiefvater's excellent turn of phrase, which occasionally shone through in the Wolves books, is evident throughout. Eagerly awaiting Raven King, actually rereading the first three books now, a rarity for me.
