Is it worth watching the movie if you've only read the first one? Or should I read the others (which I intend to do) and then watch the movie? And, is the movie any good?

I saw the movie first, then read the books, then managed to get my hands on the radio show. The only one I couldn't make it through was the TV show. But all of them are quite distinct from each other in key ways, so experiencing one doesn't inherently "ruin" the others.

I personally quite enjoyed the movie, it was the reason I read the books (which I actually prefer to listen to on audiobook; it was originally developed as radio program and that really shows, especially in the first book).(less)
