Goodreads asked Mercy McCulloch Hasselblad:

How do you get inspired to write?

Mercy McCulloch Hasselblad I heard this advice awhile ago and, in some sense, it's true: if you write only when you're inspired to write, you won't write very much.
However, there are some things I do to help bring me into the world of story when I'm not "in the mood."
Music. There's pretty much a soundtrack for every book I've ever worked on. It carries the themes of the story and the feel. For example, my first book was finished with the "Braveheart" soundtrack.
Reading. Certain books have influenced or inspired my writing in the past, so if I'm really not feeling it, I take a dose of another author's work to get me back in the mood.
