Catherine Ryan Hyde It's often not easy to answer theme questions, because the importance of certain emotional topics is not always something I'm consciously aware of. But in this case I can look back on my own past--26 years ago this month I stumbled into the rooms of 12-step recovery, utterly broken, and the people there loved me and supported me until I could get back on my feet--and all seems clear. I think that kind of emerging pattern of theme is a good way for an author to look back at a body of work and discover what is truly important to her.
