I don't know how much he was able to salvage of the first draft but we have to consider that he might have to start all over from scratch.

If he writes 2 pages a day, which is a reasonable amount, he can write 60 pages a month and Goodreads is predicting 500+ pages for this book. So Just under ten months. For a first draft.

That's not taking into consideration the emotional rollercoaster that he must be going through with having lost all that work. (less)
