Could I tempt you with 11'th century England: From 1035 to 1066. Interesting characters include: Did Emma really summon her sons back from Normandy in 1035 when Alfred was tortured? The fact that Edward removed his mother's power when he became king suggests he thought she was involved. Godwin is another. I know the Bayeux Tapestry describes what happened, but the people are not REAL the way you can make them.

Abraine, I agree there are some amazing stories in that time period. But I would need nine lives like a cat to be able to launch into a new time. My knowledge about the 11th century is rather superficial, so I'd have to do some serious research before I could even consider it. My time period is basically the 12th to the 15th centuries. The 12th is my favorite, but I've finished the history of the Angevins and will be moving into the 14th century for my next historical saga.

I love "The Sunne in Splendour". If you wrote it today, would you incorporate some of the new info that has surfaced in the last 30 years; e.g. would the negotiations for the double marriage of Richard to Joana of Portugal and his niece (presumably Bess) to Manuel of Beja affect your portrayal of the relationship between Bess and Richard; and how would the marriage to Ralph Scrope fit in the story of Cecily of York?

I've been diving headfirst into genealogy recently and have discovered I am the great (many greats) granddaughter of Llewellyn the Great through his daughter Gwladys, and quite separately also of King John through Henry III - and now I am revisiting your wonderful books with quite a different perspective. Have you ever traced your own ancestry and are there any historical figures you discovered?
