Rob Winton asked Michael Connelly:

Will the series follow plot lines from the books, or have original story-lines? If the former, how did you tackle the challenge of translating those stories to a different medium?

Michael Connelly Yes, we take from the books as needed. The vertebrae of each season comes from the books. The biggest challenge in translating them is not the plots. Those can be adapted without too much difficulty. It is in the adaptation of Bosch himself. In the books you are treated to his interior thoughts, his view of the world, his hopes, etc. None of that goes into a script. It is very needed material but we have to find another way of delivering it to the viewers. It’s tough, especially for me because I’ve been inside Harry’s head for 25 years.
