Musoke Sendaula asked Kristi Charish:

The book was recommended to me by my girlfriend as I'm working on fiction in a similar genre, fusing modern day and fantasy, and I gotta say, I loved it! Was going to ask when we'd see Owl next but I see already we're ready for a sequel in the summer, cannot wait to see it! Did want to ask, how did you come into your inspiration for the setting of the story?

Kristi Charish Hey Musoke!
So bad news first: the last I heard from my publisher OWL AND THE CITY OF ANGELS is reslated for next Jauary...It's all done and handed in! It's more of a sales/marketing decission than anything else and it could change again. BUT, my second UF series, KINCAID STRANGE (RHCanada), is coming out May 2016 so as a minor consolation there will be TWO books coming out next year!
For OWL's world the big inspiration really was light-hearted, 80's style adventure movies- Indy, The Mummy (2000's but very 80's styled!), Big Trouble Little China...I really miss those kinds of adventure movies so it was looming in my mind when I started to write. Lots of globe-trotting and tomb crawling. The places used were all spots I want to travel but haven't had the chance yet (Google maps is my best friend!).
Hope that helps and awesome to hear you had fun with OWL!
