In a roundabout way, definitely. Because I've been a scientist for so long, whenever I'm designing worlds or characters, I find myself checking to make sure everything fits a logic pattern and matches up (or would match up if it was real!) with the world's science.
I also like to throw a little cell biology & biochem in- like the pheromone based narcotic the vampires in OWL use to subdue their prey:-) once a scientist! Hope that answers your question, and enjoy the holidays!

Not so much a question, but I just had to let you know that I've loved the kincaid Strange series, and you've done the impossible: you've gotten me into the zombie genre! I can't wait for the next installment! Only because the ask requires a question mark, when will the next book be out? ( i know it's next year, please disregard)

The book was recommended to me by my girlfriend as I'm working on fiction in a similar genre, fusing modern day and fantasy, and I gotta say, I loved it! Was going to ask when we'd see Owl next but I see already we're ready for a sequel in the summer, cannot wait to see it! Did want to ask, how did you come into your inspiration for the setting of the story?
