I have complete control over what I put on the page- a direct line to my brain through my fingertips. It also allows me a break from reality, which can be cathartic sometimes. Plus, the history and importance of story-telling and writing/language goes way, way back, and it can be pretty cool to know that you are part of such an ancient art.
