Jannali Jones asked Lisa Unger:

I've noticed that many of your main characters have psychic abilities—like seeing ghosts, imaginary friends, or other supernatural elements—which makes for an intriguing setup. That said, in the stories I’ve read so far, these often feel like quirks rather than active drivers of the plot. I’m curious: is there a particular reason these elements aren’t more central to the story’s progression?

Lisa Unger Some of my characters do have these abilities, but I see "psychic" phenomenon in a more Jungian sense, as a natural extension of the mind and brain. They may have more or less ability, from non-believer to sensitive to full-on medium. For example, the lights are flickering in your bedroom -- are you the person who calls an electrician? Or are you the person who calls a seance? Thanks so much for asking!
