Lindsay Marie asked Sophia Zane:

Sophia, I just have to say, the opening of your book absolutely floored me. The way you describe Hanna’s buried scream and all those memories she tries to file away feels so real. It honestly reads like you lived through those feelings or knew someone who did. How did you get to that level of emotion and truth? Was it from your own experience, stories you’ve heard, or a lot of research? It does not read like fiction.

Sophia Zane Thank you so much, Lindsay. That means a lot to me. The opening of The Lies We Whisper is deeply personal. I drew on real life experiences, both my own and those shared with me over the years. I also spent a lot of time researching trauma, memory, and survival because I wanted Hanna’s journey to feel as real and relatable as possible. My goal was to honor those silent battles so many people carry and to write with honesty, even when it hurts. I’m glad it resonated with you.
