Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Kathryn Casey My new mystery series is based in an insular world in Utah's high valleys, tucked into the mountains. I spent time in a town like this years ago when I was a magazine writer. At the time, I was covering an adoption case in a polygamous sect. I spent a week there interviewing the men and women, talking to the children, those in charge. It was an experience that stayed with me. I've used much of what I learned in the new mystery series. My main character, Clara Jefferies, is an apostate who fled the cult. In book one, she's called by a friend from Alber, my fictional town, and told that her sister is missing. Despite her misgivings, Clara returns to Alber to find her sister.
