Goodreads asked Susan Arden:

How do you get inspired to write?

Susan Arden Think sledgehammer. I had neurosurgery and lost the ability to teach. I exist in a bubble free of chemicals that most people aren't even aware exist, but thanks to surgical complications, I now do. Which means I don't venture out into the world as often as most people. Writing is my doorway.

I was not one of those people who have written romance since they were knee high. As a matter of fact, I never wrote anything besides prose. I have ADHD and dyslexia and you can imagine the difficulty of writing with this combo.

Yeah, when I announced, "I'm going to write" it was a funny reaction. Oh dear Lord, the silence in the room as my family looked at me as if I'd announced I was going to climb Hood Mountain.

Riiigghhtt!

I bet they were thinking it, but no one said anything other than, 'follow your dream.' And I did.
