(view spoiler)[As I re-read and re-listen to Demon Daughter, I have been wondering just how long Desdemona has been working to keep Penric young. I can remember many characters thinking and/or commenting on Penric's youthful appearance in many early tales. Without looking it up, I can remember such references in Penric and The Shaman, Penric's Mission, and Orphans of R. for sure, and I think more. What is natural and what is Des? (hide spoiler)]

It's mostly natural at first, plus demon-supported general good health, till Pen's suicide attempt at the end of his Martensbridge years gave Des a huge scare. After that, and deploying all the medical knowledge accumulated over three physician-sorcerers' practices, it's mostly Des, very intent and getting better at it as she goes.
Yes, this has been in Pen's writer's mind for a while.

I've been doing a reread of the Sharing Knife series and found myself wondering about the "Absent Gods". Did the Wide Green World originally have Gods as involved or more so than the World of the 5 Gods, who then fled/were blocked from the world when the first Malice was made? Is there someplace where you have talked about this previously?

As you know, I'm a long-time fan of your books. I've often wondered why you created two of your major characters with physical disabilities? I'm referring to Dag in the Sharing Knife books, and Miles in the Vorkosigan series. The characters have made me think about the limits of human experience (as well as my own limits.) - David W.
