Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

David Simms I moved to Staunton, Virginia and discovered that an infamous mental hospital was just down the hill. Upon investigation, I learned that the superintendent of the facility in the early 20th century actually inspired Hitler.
The rest is even more chilling, if that can be believed.
Writing a novel based on these true events was a ton of fun but I believe that people need to know this dark part of history. Unfortunately, it's still pretty relevent.
Now, I just need an agent...
