Well, yes. Before they actually hit the shelves you have to read the book roughly 100 times, to edit it, to check for typos, to make sure you're happy with every word and punctuation mark. I will read bits and pieces of the books out loud after they are published, but I rarely read a book straight through, mostly because I always think of things that I would change, but it's too late!
