Goodreads asked Mikel B. Classen:

What’s the best thing about being a writer?

Mikel B. Classen For me it has been all of the unique things I've done and do. For much of my life I have been a non-fiction writer, still am. I worked as a feature writer for magazines and newspapers. Often on my assignments, I was sent to cover some really fascinating moments. I was able to Kayak with a group from Lake Biakal, Russia. I was asked to ride on a U.S. naval frigate across Lake Superior. They wanted to throw a wreath out over where the Edmund Fitzgerald went down and wanted someone to cover it. I rode on a dogsled during the inception of the U.P. 200 sled dog race. I've ridden on sailing ships, tall ships, as well as attending the reintroduction of Moose into the upper peninsula of Michigan called the Moose Lift. I've been able to be an adventurer and explorer along with writer and photographer. I wouldn't trade a moment of it.
