Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Helen Brown When I was little, Dad used to tell stories about a handsome manor house his mother had lived in as a young woman. I thought he was letting his imagination run wild - until the day he produced some sepia photographs from a cardboard box. The old family home was every bit as handsome as the one he'd described.
The photos had a powerful impact on me. A few years ago, we drove past the actual house in country Victoria. It's beautifully maintained, by the way, not at all tumbledown. If it'd been on the market, I'd have wanted to buy it on the spot....
