Goodreads asked R.S. Pyne:

How do you get inspired to write?

R.S. Pyne I live in a particularly beautiful part of rural West Wales and a lot of my writing draws on Welsh folklore, and the Welsh countryside itself. I am lucky enough to have a pair of resident ravens nesting very close to my house - every year they come into the back garden when they have young to feed - very useful for writing Celtic fiction! I have a historical reenactment background (Iron Age Celtic, 1st C BC to 1st C AD) with first-hand experience of the dress, crafts, technology and weaponry of the period. This has been invaluable for writing my Island of the Mighty series - set in a Britain where the Roman Invasion failed. The books draw on the history of Iron Age Britain but the Boudiccan revolt of AD60/61 was a success in my time-line!
