How do you get inspired to write?

Brian Freeman I think the secret among many writers, including me, is that we'd probably rather do just about anything else than stare at that blank screen every morning! It takes so much emotional energy to dive into the lives of the characters every day...but that investment of passion and energy is what enriches the books. I love the final product, and after a while, I forget the labor that went into it...but I'm reminded every time I start a new book.

So what keeps me inspired? Honestly, it's the readers. I get wonderful e-mails from readers about the role that books play in their lives, and they're the ones that get me up every morning and put me in front of the keyboard. I can't think of anything more satisfying than the thought of my books lifting people out of their current circumstances and transporting them somewhere entirely new.
