I bring your book up in almost every conversation! The way you talk about appreciating the beauty of humanity in each client's experience has me hooked on psychology. I'm an undergrad now and hope to continue schooling so I can get to know, appreciate, help, and connect with people every day. Do you have any advice for someone like me who is just beginning the process of becoming a licensed therapist or psychologist?

So glad the book resonated with you and that you enjoyed it, Ayala! How exciting that you're on the path to becoming a therapist one day. My advice is to do your own therapy so you understand yourself and have gone through the process, and to never forget to look for the beauty and humanity in every person you see. :-)

Not really a question. But I just wanted to say "THANKS FOR THIS AMAZING GIFT". It clarified so many issues that were just questions and questions about a therapist's life. And how to avoid the fear of failing?. If a computer program doesn't work. you correct it. If therapy doesn't work it can be fatal. How do you manage it?

I loved your book!! I found myself in tears at times, and also laughing out loud. I also found gems that helped me personally (the book is dogeared in those spots!) Thank you for your candor, kindness, and self-examination. I am curious....did you ever get a diagnosis of your chronic illness? I am a Sjogren's patient and I have a feeling some of what you are experiencing is due to Sjogren's.
