Goodreads asked R.E. Lewin:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

R.E. Lewin Never give in. The number of times people tell me "I wish I had the time to write." As if I have the time to write. Very few new writers have the time to write. They need to do it on top of their main job and family. I've raised my twin son and daughter alone for 13 years, with over 10 cats and dogs, reptiles, rabbits and chickens. I have a demanding job as a Global IT Project Manager and 9-5 is part time for me. I certainly do not have time to write. I have to find it and make it happen. Top Tip: schedule time in your week just to write and prioritise it. 30-60 minutes a night or 2 evenings or the weekend. Go away alone to a nice cottage with a nice view for inspiration. Schedule in your writing slots and don't let anyone stop you. I wrote whenever my twins took a nap or slept or played nicely. I resolved character issues on dog walks. You can fit writing time in with other tasks like breastfeeding. I planned many scenes in my head then and made voice notes. Most importantly - enjoy it!
