If I get blocked, then I have gone off track and something is not working. Sometimes I will dump an entire section and start again. I see these blocks as a wrong turn in the story. How I deal with it is by asking the dogs. I am an animal communicator, like Tammy in the series. I think my dogs have probably contributed to my story more than I! We go on long walks and decide how to handle this block together. I get great ideas that I am sure they put into my head sometimes. Or perhaps they just unblock me by being with me in nature. Either way, I always say the dogs fix it for me.

I adore reading and can feel devastated when a great book ends. I can also get very disappointed if the plot is obvious or the ending is not how I would like it. To know what is going to happen before anyone else. To walk and ponder what can happen next, decide who lives and who dies and whether someone should be good or bad is so exciting to me. I love knowing that I get to decide. I write the next chapter. Decide how I think it should end. More than anything, when I read a new scene to my teens and they both laugh at the same time. I love that.

Never give in. The number of times people tell me "I wish I had the time to write." As if I have the time to write. Very few new writers have the time to write. They need to do it on top of their main job and family. I've raised my twin son and daughter alone for 13 years, with over 10 cats and dogs, reptiles, rabbits and chickens. I have a demanding job as a Global IT Project Manager and 9-5 is part time for me. I certainly do not have time to write. I have to find it and make it happen. Top Tip: schedule time in your week just to write and prioritise it. 30-60 minutes a night or 2 evenings or the weekend. Go away alone to a nice cottage with a nice view for inspiration. Schedule in your writing slots and don't let anyone stop you. I wrote whenever my twins took a nap or slept or played nicely. I resolved character issues on dog walks. You can fit writing time in with other tasks like breastfeeding. I planned many scenes in my head then and made voice notes. Most importantly - enjoy it!

Book 5 actually. I am just working on the ending and re-editing it. Book 3 and 4 are ready to publish. I am hoping to have this out for the summer holidays. I am also brewing a standalone book about Mars in my mind.

I don't really need to be inspired. Since I was a young girl I need to write. It's compulsive. My mind is always making up stories even when I sleep. If I had the time to put all of my 'dream-stories' into a book I'd have a book a week. Dog walking helps me to create scenes and characters.

The idea grew from wanting to have strong female and male roles for my twin son and daughter. I was always seeing books aimed at just female or male readers and wanted them both to be equally excited about this series. I also wanted animals to have a massive part and show how important animals are to us humans.
