Like everyone I’m in love with the book. I bought it on kindle and it’s so hard to re-read bits so I’m going to buy it in hardback!. I was desperate to find out who could have written such a book so read your bio and to my astonishment you also swim at the Hampstead Ponds! I’m writing a book and I’m finding cold water swimming helps me think through blocks or plot options. Has swimming helped you in this way?
Bonnie Garmus
I like long, slow swims where I can get into a rhythm and just go and go and go. That's the only problem with the ponds--they're small! I've definitely worked through some plot issues when I'm swimming, but I don't always remember all the details once I'm back on land. I can't do long swims in cold water, but I love the whole experience. Which is weird considering how hard it is to get in every single time!

Absolutely loved Lessons In Chemistry. Thanks for writing such a great book! Elizabeth Soot very much reminds me of Jenny Fields, John Irving's iconic character Garp's mother. Such a no-nonsense straight forward, yet endearing, character. Did you draw any inspiration from Jenny Fields?

I watched the TV series first and then bought the book and read it at once! Amazing storytelling, I enjoyed it so much. I hope you carry more stories, and I'll be reading them all! I only have one question - have you always known that you'd like to write a book or did it just happen?

Firstly, I’m a HUGE fan of Lessons in Chemistry! The book was fabulous (I’m not so sure about the TV adaptation, honestly, I think Sixthirty lost his voice) I had a thought just now in a completely different context. I am a fan of Elizabeth Zimmermann - an icon of the knitting world (yes, that is a thing!) is there any of Zimmermann in your Zott, or is the initials and similarity in life outlook purely accidental?
