Absolutely loved Lessons In Chemistry. Thanks for writing such a great book! Elizabeth Soot very much reminds me of Jenny Fields, John Irving's iconic character Garp's mother. Such a no-nonsense straight forward, yet endearing, character. Did you draw any inspiration from Jenny Fields?

I love John Irving! But Elizabeth Zott is actually based on the philosophy stoicism as outlined by Marcus Aurelius. Stoics are often defined by traits such as self-responsibility, endurance, and courage.

I am a chemist and doing a PhD in chemical engineering and I loved it! It is sad that things haven't changed enough but this book was a big inspiration. The only comment I have is about Elizabeth thinking that science is serious but not fun. I believe science is both serious and fun! I am like a kid in the candy store when I am in the lab. Was it because ofall the things that happen to her and how unfair people were?
