I watched the TV series first and then bought the book and read it at once! Amazing storytelling, I enjoyed it so much. I hope you carry more stories, and I'll be reading them all! I only have one question - have you always known that you'd like to write a book or did it just happen?

I've been writing a long time (I'm a copywriter!), and I had written another novel before--actually 1.5 other novels (unpublished). Lessons in Chemistry is novel 2.5. But I found it difficult to write my own work while writing all day as a copywriter until I finally realized I'd only finish Lessons in Chemistry if I worked on it before work. So I started getting up at 4:30 am.

Bonnie, as a young woman from the 60s I so related to your book. As a feminist from the start, even though I don’t believe as women we come far enough, especially in today’s climate, I felt inspired by your book. You brilliantly gave language to the predicaments and discrimination that so many women, races, etc. had to endure. It is indeed time to recommit and recognize the value of woman’s contributions.Next book?

I was thinking about your use of humor and how to classify it- it seems to have some qualities of absurdism but it doesn’t feel quite like satire. How would you classify it? The novel had an almost Vonnegut- feel, like it’s the novel he’d write if he was a woman living through sexism today. I was floored to listen to your interview and learn that you share a copywriting background.
