Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

M.T. DeSantis It might sound cliche, but I asked myself “what book do I want to read that hasn’t been written?” And after pondering that for a few days, the answer came as “Lunar Chronicles meets the Night Circus.” And so Grimmfay, the dark circus populated by fairy-tale characters with a twist, was born. I wrote it, realized I had a huge world to play in, and started writing spinoffs about the different characters. My current book is a prequel about the event that led to the conflict that starts the main book, and I’m having lots of fun digging into that history.
