Truthfully, just getting everything ready for Once Upon a Broken Sky's release in April, but when I have some free time, there's a Grimmfay sequel (which was sort of a secret but isn't anymore).

This is the most difficult question ever because there are soooo many, but I'd love to just spend a long weekend wandering around Chris Colfer's Land of Stories so I could meet all the characters, ride a unicorn, maybe climb Rapunzel's tower (or take the stairs).

Heh, as it turns out, I recently figured this very thing out (at least, I discovered one thing that helped). I’m currently writing the story of how Bianca, Cindell, Orianna, and Zelandra (my four main ladies) met, and I was very, very, oh gods, so very stuck trying to figure out a scene where Cindell confronts something from her past. Every afternoon, I take a break from work to get in some exercise, and I tried talking it out while I walked (don’t worry, there weren’t a ton of people around to wonder why I was talking to myself). Anyway, hearing the problem out loud made something click, and boom, I had an answer and proceeded to plow through the problem scene. Now, the story’s almost done.

Find the story that gets you excited and write it. Don’t listen to what anyone says is popular or what you have to do to sell books. I mean, there’s lots of great advice once you hit the marketing stage, but actually sitting down and writing a book? Create whatever makes you want to create. There will be readers.

It might sound cliche, but I asked myself “what book do I want to read that hasn’t been written?” And after pondering that for a few days, the answer came as “Lunar Chronicles meets the Night Circus.” And so Grimmfay, the dark circus populated by fairy-tale characters with a twist, was born. I wrote it, realized I had a huge world to play in, and started writing spinoffs about the different characters. My current book is a prequel about the event that led to the conflict that starts the main book, and I’m having lots of fun digging into that history.
