Jeffrey asked Glynnis Campbell:

When reading some of your novels, I have had to look up some words to find their meaning, since I wasn't familiar with the words. When you read, do you still come across words that you are unfamiliar with and have to look up the definition of the words?

Glynnis Campbell I run into that issue occasionally if the book is about a subject with which I'm unfamiliar. I think the unfamiliar words I use in my own books are medieval terms for which there is no modern substitute, for example: pottage (a thick stew), claymore (a Scottish sword), coffyn (a pastry), tabard (a tunic). I try to include enough details in the text to give the reader the general meaning, but that's not always possible, and I think it's commendable that you take the trouble to look up unfamiliar words!
