how much research do you do for a historical novel -- time wise?

Glynnis Campbell It's hard to calculate an actual amount of time. I've always had a fascination for the Middle Ages, so I read everything I could find. I did a lot of research at the beginning of my writing career, so I have a pretty good handle on medieval times. Now I may spend a few hours per book, looking up history and details that are relevant to my story.
