"The World of the Five Gods" seems a bit of a mouthful, hasn't anyone suggested Pentheon (penta+theon, and also a play on pantheon) instead? Sorry if this has been suggested, but if Goodreads has a way of searching "ask the author" posts, I haven't managed to find it.

Heh. I agree with you as to the unwieldiness of the series name. (Some fans abbreviate it "5GU" for "five gods universe" in casual posts, but I felt that was not identifier enough for the uninitiated; also I have not yet committed to my theological world-building extending beyond one planet.) "Pentheon" is amusing and succinct, but might make for some confusion with respect to one of my protagonist's names.
Not that there aren't people named things like "Theophilus" or "Theodosia" in real life...

(It's also now engraved on my Hugo for Best Series, so rather indelible.)

I was just thinking about Alys Vorpatril - admiring her regal air and outstanding competence - it occurred to me that she first appears as Lady Alys, already married, and I cannot think of any mention of her immediate family. Are there highly competent and scary sisters somewhere else on Barrayar? Also Ivan is related to the Vorrutyers - does that mean her maiden name was Vorrutyer?

This is tiny, but: In your head, do you pronounce Tej as "Tedge" or "Tey"? South Asian languages vary a lot, so Tejaswini _could_ be either "Tedge-a-swee-nee" or "Tey-as-vee-nee." It's silly, but it kept tugging at the edge of my brain as I read _Alliance_. Ended up switching between the two randomly, whichever "sounded" appropriate at the time. I know your answer may not change this for me, but I wondered. Thank you!
