What new ideas helped you to write your recent book in your series, and how do you develop either the characters or the world in in your book?
Gail Carriger
I love the ridiculous, in life, in literature, in television. Like most authors, I find myself borrowing from any or all of these places when building characters and world. I don’t like to be too stereotypical, if you continue to my books you will find I have built up some archetypes initially that I take great glee in tearing apart in subsequent books.

Your books all take place in the same world, which is absolutely wonderful because the stories and characters intermingle and the world you have created is so much fun. Do you have any plans to write a series set in a different world, just to mix things up? Or are you going to stick with this world for now?

With the end of the Finishing School coming soon will you be launching a new series based on the characters? I would love to hear what happens in the future with Sophronia, Dimity, Pillover, Soap and Mersey. On a personal note, thank you for writing a young adult series. My 9 year old daughter cannot wait to be old enough to read this series.
