What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Mike Trigg Find a developmental editor. This is probably the most transformative decision I made in my writing -- really transitioning it from a hobby to a professional endeavor. The quality of my first book improved dramatically once I started working with a developmental editor. But really find someone you like and trust. It's a partnership. And, like any partnership, a good one is life-changing, while a bad one is worse than none at all. Pro tip: many great published authors moonlight as editors, so check the websites of authors you admire as a start.
