Elena No, it is a bad movie. It didn't do well in the box office.
Nathan I watched first and then read the books to fill in the gaps and get the rest of the story. I really enjoyed the movie and wish a few things had been truer to the books, but it wasn't terrible like some think (and the box office has nothing to do with how good a movie is to the viewer). The books were also really good (outside of a bit of forced teenage angstiness, but even that I could understand to an extent).
Alyssa the movie makes A LOT of changes (pretty clear the writers of the script did not even read the book), but if you watch it without comparing the two the whole time its pretty good...
Gabriel F. I Am Number Four

“I am Number Four”, by Pittacus Lore, is about a teenage alien boy.Yep, he’s an alien. Pittacus Lore is the author of the popular I Am Number Four series. He has won numerous awards for his writing, such as: Delaware Diamond Award, Isinglass Teen Read Award, Iowa Teen Award, and more. Pittacus Lore conveys plenty of messages throughout the novel, but the main one being,”Everyone has different talents and gifts.” Number Four, or his current name, “John,” is different because he is an alien (although he looks just like an ordinary human) and he has extraordinary powers that humans dream of possessing. To reinstate the claim, “Everyone has different talents and gifts.”

In I am Number Four, Pittacus Lore uses literary devices, especially Descriptive Language. Descriptive Language helps the reader vividly imagine what’s taking place in the passage. “They are taller than we are, and still look similar except in the face. They have no pupils and their irises are a deep magenta color, some of them black,” is an example of Descriptive Language from the text. Pittacus Lore is using Descriptive Language in that sentence. He is “painting a picture” in the reader’s imagination so they can truly understand what is happening. He is using sensory details to describe a superior alien race.

Also, Pittacus Lore uses more literary devices such as repetition. Repetition is an effective literary device, and Pittacus Lore uses it a lot. One example of repetition from the text is, “I’ll miss the sun and the warmth. I’ll miss the gecko that watched from the wall each morning as I ate breakfast… I’ll miss the thunderstorms that used to come out of nowhere.” Pittacus Lore continues with, “I’ll miss the dolphins that sometimes feed when the sun sets.” This repetition helps the reader truly understand how John, the protagonist, will really miss home.

Pittacus Lore also uses a great deal of symbolism, and it is very effective. “When one of us is found and killed, a circular scar wraps around the right ankle of those still alive. And residing on our left ankle, formed when the Loric charm was first cast, is a small scar identical to the amulet each of us wears. The circular scars are another part of the charm. A warning system so that we know where we stand with each other, and so that we know when they’ll be coming for us next.” That was a direct quote from the passage and it uses symbolism to describe the Loric charm that is mentally attached to the 9 Loric survivors. The charm is special because it forces their hunters to kill the numbers in order. For example, if a Mogadorian tries to kill Number 7 before Number 6, then any damage they try to afflict on that number is reversed and done upon them instead. The symbolism Pittacus Lore used “symbolizes” or represents the power of the Loric charm and also symbolizes the other numbers that died before them.
In conclusion, everyone has different gifts, and it’s ok if you don’t know what your’s is right now because eventually you will find out. It is always imperative to always be yourself. Although John has a hard time accepting who he is in the beginning of the novel, in the end he begins to understand that it is ok not to be like others and that he is important. Always keep this question in mind: Would you rather be proud and confidently show your gifts, or try to be somebody else that you’re actually not?
Megan I thought the movie was awful. Even if you looked at it as as stand-alone (ie not comparing it to the book), it was terrible. The movie was poorly written, had a bad music score, the acting was subpar, and the plot didn't make very much sense. Not that I thought the book was very good or anything, but when you do compare them, the book was WAY better.
Aaron Mark I thought the movie was excellent, but have yet to read the book
Jordan Colunga If I where you i would forget there even is a movie lol. the movie does the book no justice and will ruin your image of the characters completely...
Yvaine It's pretty good, and it completely impressed me. I haven't read the book so I believe my opinion is quite objective.
Rebecca In my opinion it was pretty horrible compared to the book. I do not recommend it at all.
LaShyla Moore No, the movie sucks really bad.
Elizabeth Please don’t.
Brianna The movie is really great. That's why am reading the book it didn't explain a lot but it had enough for me to fall love with. The movie had the best characters and brought some extra things that weren't in the book.
Marvinia i strongly suggest watching the movie
Chamila Champagnie i suggest no. Most movies that go with a book ruin the way you have pictured the characters and let me tell you the i am number four movie really disappointed me because they skipped a lot of important details. that's is just my opinion, maybe you might like it
Aiden (The Book Scourge) Watched the movie in the afternoon a while ago, I then proceeded to fall asleep about 30 minutes in. When I woke up the movie had ended. What does that tell you?
Zachary yes their should be s why not the first movie was great but i heard they where making another movie but stopped why if someone knows tell me 1

thanks
Brooke If you really enjoyed the book and continue to read the series I would say the movie is not worth buying to watch...if it's free whatever but prepare to be a tad disappointed. I still enjoyed it from a movie pov but compared to the book I was a little upset.
