I was reading a thread (https://bit.ly/3FKJuMs) on how it was once considered prestigious for women in China to spend their entire lives - or as much time as possible - in decorated, raised canopy beds, and instantly thought back to float-chairs. The described attitude towards them especially seemed similar, as did one of the stories about the practice related in the post. Was this tradition an inspiration?

No, actually. I was however thinking of the other ancient Japanese/Asian tradition of (upper class, natch) women only speaking to people from behind screens.
(The nonfiction book The World of the Shining Prince is a good guide to Heian Japan https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/7... and an enlightening read-along or read-before if you want to tackle The Tale of Genji.)

While reading "The Lies of Locke Lamora" I came across a section with the upper class in danger. I was instantly reminded of a passage that I loved where the upper class reacted bravely and magnificently to danger. I am 90% sure you wrote it. Are you able to tell me approximately what section, of which of my Vorkosigan books I may find it? Thanks.

Des is keeping Penric young(ish) but I'm assuming that while she might be able to slow his aging and keep him healthy, she would not be able to extend him past the assumed human maximum of 125. In the end it still feels like it would be hard on him to outlive everyone important in his life except Des. How do you imagine she will handle his feelings of loss and possible depression? And how will she handle losing him?

I have discovered audiobooks and they have changed my life! I no longer dread long drives, I look forward to them. I own all your books in both print and e-book so I am using the library for the audio versions. The problem is the name pronunications. Some are not at all like I thought so it sounds like a different person. How do YOU pronounce dy Ferrej? Both parts...
