Michelle Gulbis asked this question about The Last Thing He Told Me (Hannah Hall, #1):
I did enjoy this book but I have a hard time believing that a 16 year old girl, who has been with only her dad for most of her life would choose to never see him again, instead spending time with the grandfather that made them run in the first place, and stay with a stepmom that she barely tolerated. Does anyone agree?

Ethan was going to move into it in the first place, but then there was a leak giving away their new identities. Ethan never trusted that program again. He felt if they went into it they would be killed. Hannah deduced the same thing. So Bailey would be giving up her entire life, her entire identity, everything about herself for nothing. She'd be in danger, and so would her father. They sacrificed being together to keep Bailey safe and whole. She got to be her authentic self and be safe, but Ethan had to stay away to allow that to happen. The girl didn't want it, she really didn't have much choice.(less)
