Judi Ross
Judi Ross asked Amor Towles:

I just started The Lincoln Highway and am loving it. I have 2 questions. You use the terms Mitzvah and putz and reference the Jews of 47th street. Is one of the characters Jewish? Can you share a little background on Woolly as it relates to Rules of Civility?

Amor Towles Judi, the Yiddish words in the book are all mentioned by Duchess. While we don't know his religion, he grew up among Vaudeville performers and lived in downtown New York, so would certainly have encountered Yiddish in the course of his daily life. I'm not sure how to answer your question about Woolly. There are a few overlappings between RULES OF CIVILITY and LINCOLN HIGHWAY, but I think you can interpret the without me!
