Congratulations on the recent Goodreads Choice Award nomination! What will you do if you win?
Michael J. Sullivan
Thanks Cynthia...this is my fourth nomination, and third in a row...it really is an honor just to be nominated...especially since each year my books have been included with some pretty amazing titles. As for what I'll do? Well, I don't think I'll have to worry about that. First, Hollow World came in as part of the write-in process (and I want to thank all those who got it on the ballot). But that means it missed many many votes that occurred in the first round. I don't think I've ever seen a semi-finalist book do well.
Even if that weren't the case, I'm still a relatively "new kid on the block" and slowly but surely building an audience for my work. When stacked up against authors that are have sold millions I don't have a chance.
Thanks for asking...and I truly mean it when I say it's an honor just to be nominated...I don't need (or expect) anything more than that.

Hi Michael :) As a mythology-buff, I wanted to ask a few questions about the gods of Elan. Were you inspired by any mythologies when you made the creation story and deities, did you simply develop it to fit the story or was it primarily based on the redemption theme the Riyria books have? And, if it’s not considered some sort of spoiler, did Erebus ever manage to collect all the feathers and be forgiven by Muriel?

Hi. Perhaps you answer this in your other series...but I was wondering why Royce pushed them to go ahead and take the job from Thrace when it went against our expectations for that character? Don't get me wrong, I love that part! But his reasoning was never explained and I was wondering if there was a reason.
