Hello Mr. Lawrence, I have been reading your books for 3 years already and it has been one of the greatest literary experiences of my life. My teacher told us to interview someone who inspires us as a person, and I kinda thought It was worth it a try to contact you. That said, what was your inspiration to start writing, and what was the moment that you really thought of publishing and become a writer?

Hi Nico - great to hear you've been enjoying my books.
Here's a guide to check if you missed any!

Real life throws out fewer moments of epiphany than fiction would have us believe. My route into writing has many ... roots, and is a complicated, smeared out thing, detailed here:

But it was certainly punctuated by moments such as reading a really bad fantasy book and thinking that even +I+ could do better than that. Or signing up for night classes in creative writing. Or actually writing my first book, then my 2nd and my 3rd (Prince of Thorns) all with no serious thought of publication.

Hi. I just wanted to say how much i have loved the first two books in the Broken Empire trilogy. I have only recently started to get into fantasy and while looking for reads came upon your books. They are just amazing! I have the third book ready to start and have the next trilogy ready too. I wondered what inspired/influenced the character of Jorg, and what was the most challenging aspects of writing him?
