I would love to read the original From Blood and Ash series but I can't find the books anywhere (I've checked many book markets online). So is it necessary to read the original series or can I start with this one?

You can start with this one, it is not necessary to read the Blood And Ash series but it's a greater experience.
However, this is a prequel. From Blood and Ash takes place centuries after, so if you don't want future spoirlers you should read these books first and then the ones from Blood and Ash, but you can read them togueter, it's fine.

Es bastante preocupante que algunas personas te aconsejen que no leas FBAA antes de leer ASITE, no tiene sentido ya que desde un comiezo en la serie de from blood and ash los protagonistas de asite juegan un papel muy importante.
tomalo como que asite es el origen de from blood and ash. no puedes irte directamente a la base sin entender toda la construcción antes.
es verdad que ambos libros cuentan la historia de personajes diferentes, pero en un punto se van a juntar porque estan estrechamente relacionados, sin uno no puedes entender al otro.
si te sirve este es el orden recomendado para leer este mundo:

2. A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire
3. The Crown of Gilded Bones
4. A shadow in the ember
5. The War of Two Queens
Para que te hagas una idea. ¿ves que A shadow in the ember esta de número 4? luego viene el número 5 que es un libro de la saga original de from blood and ash. sin ASITE no puedes entender FBAA y de la misma forma, sin FBAA no puedes entender ASITE.

I had a hard time finding paperback copies of the Blood and Ash series, but I ended up finding them on Amazon for like $13 a piece. I think they've gone up to closer to $18 now but they are still in stock! Hardcover is also in stock on Amazon but they are nearly double the price.

What I would do is just google “from blood and ash read online free” and you should be able to read it on any of the ones that pop up. Most of these sites aren’t sketchy in the least and I read on them often

ah if you are looking for a physical copy, it will be hard to find if you are not living in the UK/US, the same will be the case with this book too. You can although start the original series on kindle or via an other e-book retailers. Also it is not necessary to have read the original series before starting this one, but since these are in the same world with a few common characters, you'll want to read the original series books too!
