P.C. Cast It's not a foolish question at all! Actually, I just talked about that in the scene in EARTH WALKER that I wrote last night. It is unusual for a mare to choose a male Rider, but it does happen. Crystal Seers (the Wind Riders who can use the properties of crystals) are always bonded to mares, which is why it is also rare for a man to be a Crystal Seer.
