I really enjoyed the book, but towards the end it became rather too convoluted for me, especially the part about John and Penny. Anyone care to enlighten me?

It starts out GREAT, but toward the end gets more convoluted than needed. He may have meant that to be "red herrings" but it just clutters.

The satire and charming writing that was there for half the book lessens. One character is beautifully satirized and the rest somewhat; if he kept that up it'd be so much fun. Less plot!(less)
