(view spoiler)[Hi Jodi, I'm rereading the TCSM for the umpteenth time & a thought occurred to me reading NTLTP. Why did Markhams' ghost suddenly start appearing or had he just not noticed it before? And why did our 3 musketeers get involved in the family drama at all? Were they not interfering with history? I don't understand the reasoning for their actions - unless it the same kind of situation as the Mary Stewart history? Help! (hide spoiler)]

Hi - sorry for the delay. I've had one of those bug things. Not THE bug, thank goodness, but the sort that stops you putting two coherent thoughts together. Anyway - back to Markham. The reason the ghost didn't appear sooner is because the idiot author didn't think of it until that point. And yes, they did interfere a little bit with History simply by being there, but that happens to a greater or lesser extent on every jump. If you think about it, just by standing in a particular spot, you prevent someone else standing on that particular spot. Which means that someone else is in the wrong place and the whole thing has a kind of knock on effect.
They REALLY interfere with History in The Ordeal of the Haunted Room (out at Christmas). Even Dr Bairstow expresses surprise that History has allowed them to live.
Thanks for your question. Regards, Jodi.

Hi Jodi, simple question: In the St. Mary's books, why did you go for "an historian" instead of "a historian"? I get it that "h" is a weak consonant, but for other combinations like "a hideous" or "a hindrance", you use "a" (thank goodness my ebook reader has a search function). I'm not an English native speaker (I'm German) but I'm very interested in details like this. Is there a quirky rule that I'm not aware of?

Will we ever find out how Helios fared after he returned to Troy? I feel his story is kind of a loose end.
