Goodreads asked Tim Parr:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Tim Parr Writer's block sounds like a terminal affliction but it really doesn't need to be. I work full time in my professional life so I am used to cramming in other activities in the limited time available. For me, the writing process is a welcome distraction. There is an energy released in turning exciting undeveloped ideas into words on a page and on the whole this keeps me motivated. I would certainly find it tougher if I had whole empty days stretching in front of me. In times when it is hard to focus, and believe me there are many of those, I roam. I might move my notepad or laptop to another room or head for a coffee shop with a background hubbub or a communal table in the local library for peace and quiet. Occasionally I have been known to get in the car and drive to a motorway service station to kick-start the creative juices. I am quite hopeless at writing early in the morning and when I get the opportunity I like to tap away into the night while the rest of the house is sleeping, with George the cat and maybe a single malt to keep me company.
