How do you get inspired to write?

Tim Parr Hmm, everything and anything! My debut novel is a mosaic of so many things. As a writer of fiction, it is largely from imagination but there are also observations, experiences and memories mingled in there. I like to visit places I use in my writing and I would be happy to tell more but I don't want to spoil it for the reader. One thing that might surprise you is that I didn't allow myself to read any other books in the year or so of writing my own one. I am enormously looking forward to picking up some books that have been recommended to me.
