Michel Sizaire
Michel Sizaire asked Jodi Taylor:

Good day Jodi: I'm reading book 3 and I'm wondering; why are the mission folks, not using under the skin, tracking devices?

Jodi Taylor Hi Michel - thanks for your very excellent question. Which is what politicians say when the answer is less than very excellent. When I started writing these books it obviously made sense for them to have some sort of tracking device but as an author, I couldn't make it too easy. I couldn't have them saying, 'Oh God, we've lost Max again but never mind - she's half a mile away in that direction,' so I gave them tags and tag readers but they couldn't be that efficient otherwise there would be no drama. (Lack of drama is not often a feature of St Mary's life but you know what I mean.) Hence, tag readers that work quite well when the author wants them too and less well when she doesn't.
There's an episode in Book 4 when the tag reader works too well and another in Book 11 when it doesn't. Blame the author - I do.
Best regards, Jodi.
