Did anyone else feel a confusion over Ann and Finn's relationship? I felt like it was too shallow and there was not enough depth describing it. I kept waiting for the author to show Ann's real emotions over the tragedy at some point, like there would be something more to it, to her motherly grief, but it felt very fleeting and not deep.

I think Ann has a lawyer brain, has probably always had a lawyer brain, and compartmentalizes in order to do what she needs to do. It's shown in different parts where Ann breaks down, alone, but she's not the type to outwardly process and express her feelings to others. Just like what saved them in the crash, the "don't dwell and do what needs to be done" attitude is there from start to finish. As a highly emotional person, it is hard for me to understand that, but I also definitely know people like that, and an event like this probably wouldn't change them either. I will say that Ann will probably definitely need therapy at some point, lol.(less)
