Goodreads asked Nancy Rubin Stuart:

What’s the best thing about being a writer?

Nancy Rubin Stuart There are so many! But the most important is that you live widely as a writer, not only in your imagination but in the research you must do in order to write authoritatively. This applies to both writers of fiction and nonfiction, for whatever you write requires constant learning about people, institutions, inventions, nature, history and other topics you must understand to write abut them.

You are like the proverbial cat who lives nine lives, except that as a writer you live many more lives through your creativity.
